When driving, it is important to be aware of all surroundings. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents in the United States, and it can have tragic consequences. This could have been the case with a recent fatal car accident in Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania.
The accident, which occurred in the 500 block of Bethlehem Pike near the intersection with Richardson Road in Montgomery Township at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, left an 87-year-old woman dead. Details are scarce, but police say the elderly woman from Chalfont, who was driving a Ford Taurus, collided with a Dodge Ram Pickup driven by a man from Sellersville. It was not immediately clear what caused the fatal accident. The elderly lady was taken to Abington Hospital, where she later died from her injuries, though the pickup driver was not hurt.
Police did not immediately release further information regarding the fatal accident, and it was not disclosed whether or not citations would be forthcoming. Authorities are said to be continuing their investigation. They have asked for witnesses who may have observed the crash to contact the Montgomery Township Police.
While the details released so far do not indicate who may have been responsible, it is often the case that authorities are not initially certain what happened and must rely on investigative techniques and witness statements, in addition to the physical evidence found. While the family of the 87-year-old woman will now be left to bury and mourn their loved one, they will also surely want to know exactly what happened. An attorney versed in personal injury law may help get the necessary answers and assist in seeking monetary damages from all negligent parties that contributed to the tragic death.
