Man files products liability suit in Pennsylvania court

A man filed a products liability suit in a Pennsylvania court against health and pharmaceutical companies for severe physical injuries sustained from taking pain medication the companies produced. Aside from the products liability claim, there are counts of negligence and fraud. A report did not state the compensation amount the plaintiff is seeking.

Some time ago, the man had been rushed to the hospital and was told by physicians that his liver was failing. He says this is from the mixing of the over-the-counter pain medication Tylenol and a prescribed generic version of Vicodin. He claims that both medications were taken in correct dosages as well as at the correct times. The report did not state why he needed to take these medications on an ongoing basis.

The man claims that the company that manufactures Tylenol has known for years that its active component of acetaminophen can cause liver failure. He also asserts that they have neglected to provide consumers with appropriate warnings to that effect. His representation claims in the suit that it is shameful that the manufacturers would allow the public to use this product without proper caution.

Legal representation for the defendants have petitioned to move the products liability case from state to federal court. They claim of diversity of citizenship between the parties involved and the fact that the compensation amount will more than likely surpass the $50,000 state jurisdictional limit. This case demonstrates that anyone, whether in Pennsylvania or any other state, is entitled to file a lawsuit to recoup the damages suffered due to the negligence of another party.
