Amusement park accident involving roller coaster leaves 2 hurt

Amusement parks are popular in the summer, but those in Pennsylvania need to be aware of both the risks and their legal rights if something goes wrong while they are at the park. This can get complicated because of waivers and liability regulations. However, in nearby Ohio, a malfunctioning roller coaster caused a pair of injuries, showing just why people need to keep these things in mind.

The amusement park accident happened at around 2:45 in the afternoon, on the indoor roller coaster known as Flight of Fear. This is a ride on Kings Island. The fire department was called to the scene.

When the firefighters arrived, they discovered that the source of the smoke was an electric motor. It was pouring thick smoke back over 18 people. The roller coaster was sitting near another ride, Racer, which is made of wood. However, only the engine was smoking, so firefighters turned it off. According to their reports, shutting it down made the smoke stop.

The emergency crews then treated two of the people who had been exposed to the smoke. They were able to give them the treatment that they needed right there on the scene, and they did not have to take either one of them to the hospital.

The roller coaster is in the section of the park that is modeled after Coney Island. It was built back in 1996, and at the time, it was called Outer Limits: Flight of Fear. Since then, it was renamed to drop the beginning, leaving it as merely Flight of Fear.

As all of this was happening, the Firehawk roller coaster was also turned off. However, this only lasted for about an hour before it could go back into use once more.
