Investigation continues for fatal Pennsylvania motorcycle crash

While fall weather is well on its way, residents in Pennsylvania will still witness some motorcyclists on the roadway. There might be less of these small vehicles on the roadways during the colder months, but motorists should still be aware of them on all types of vehicles on the roadways. It is not uncommon for these small vehicles to go unnoticed, and when a driver fails to take note of their surroundings by checking blind spots, mirrors and oncoming traffic. If drivers are not careful they could collide with a motorcycle causing a serious or even fatal crash.

Authorities in North Whitehall Township were recently dispatched to a fatal motorcycle crash. Preliminary reports indicate that a motorcycle and a second vehicle collided around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Route 145 and Second Street. The coroner's office in Lehigh County reported that the male motorcyclist died as a result of the crash. No injuries to the motorist were reported at this time.

Investigation is still ongoing, and Route 145 was temporarily closed in order to collect evidence at the scene of the crash. Once completed, investigators should be able to determine cause and assign liability. If a driver is at fault in a fatal crash, that driver could face civil liabilities.

The loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death claim in order to recover compensation. The resulting monetary award could be used to cover the related expenses such as medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages, loss of companionship and other associated damages.

Dealing with the emotional and financial hardships caused by a fatal accident can be difficult for loved ones to cope with. In order to adequately and fully address the situation, loved ones of the deceased should understand their legal recourses. This could help them alleviate the financial burdens associated with the crash and assist them with coping with their losses.
