Whether a driver is traveling on a major roadway, city streets or a residential area, accidents could occur at anytime and anywhere. Even when drivers are upholding their duty of care and following the rules of the road, this does not prevent them from being struck by a negligent driver.
Pennsylvania State Police recently responded to a fatal multi-vehicle collision in Lynn Township. According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado rear-ended a Ford F-250 on Route 309. This collision caused the Chevy pickup truck to cross into oncoming traffic, leading to a crash involving a Mack truck. Following this collision, the truck returned to its side of the road, where a Freightliner struck it.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the driver of the Chevy pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not clear if any of the other drivers involved suffered any injuries. Police are still investigating the crash. Investigators are unsure what caused the initial rear-end collision and if another driver is at fault or partially at fault in the accident.
Once the investigation is complete, authorities will be able to determine the cause of the crash. This information could help an injured party file a personal injury suit or loved ones of the deceased file a wrongful death suit. This could help them recover compensation for the damages caused by the crash.
Following a fatal automobile collision, those involved and the loved ones of the deceased should understand their rights and options. This will ensure their interests are protected and they take appropriate and timely action.
