Tragic skiing accident claims the life of young sports enthusiast

Last week, family members and friends held a funeral for man who died in a skiing accident. The fatal skiing accident happened at a Midwest ski resort on a recent Saturday at approximately 2 p.m. The 25-year-old victim passed away at a hospital where he was receiving treatment not long after the incident occurred.

According to the man's friend, the skier was traveling down the ski slope to join up with a main ski run when he collided with a padded pole. The victim's friend described the incident as a freak accident. He said that his friend was not traveling very fast, but his chest took the brunt of the collision and the impact caused his aorta to rupture.

In his obituary, the 25-year-old man was described to be a cayoneering, dirt biking, climbing and skiing enthusiast. He was also an accomplished athlete during his high school years and started skiing when he was only 3 years of age. During his college years, he served as a Mormon missionary in the West Indies, and he only just graduated from university last December.

This accident was indeed unfortunate, especially to see a man lose his life at such a young age. Pennsylvania residents may be able to learn something from this incident as well. We are never too young to die and real dangers exist everywhere. Sometimes, dangerous ski resorts that owners neglect to maintain in a safe manner are to blame for a fatal skiing accident. Other times, it may be the fault of the skier. Regardless how an accident happens, though, Pennsylvania residents must be on heightened alert for any and all dangers while enjoying recreational activities.
