The most common theme park personal injury claims

Theme parks are so much fun, but they can also be dangerous. Indeed, there are a lot of hidden dangers at Pennsylvania theme parks, and numerous personal injury claims are filed against them every single year. Generally, most of those claims fit into the following categories.

First, we have roller coaster injuries. Roller coasters are a great deal of fun, and for the most part they are very safe, but sometimes injuries and deaths happen on these devices. For example, in 2011, a 3-year-old fell off a roller coaster and died in Illinois. Most roller coaster accident claims cite legal arguments relating to negligent operation, design/product defects and improper maintenance.

Water slide accidents are common at water parks. Often claims regarding water slides relate to drownings. Injuries can also happen when people are sliding at high speeds into a pool of water below.

Animal attacks are another source of theme park lawsuits. Many theme parks have petting zoos and other areas with dangerous animals on display. In some cases, people who witnessed a violent animal attack as it happened were able to sue for negligence regarding the infliction of emotional distress.

Another common source of theme park injury claims is food poisoning. If a theme park serves one of its guests unsafe food and the guest contracts food poisoning, the park may be liable.

Finally, although car theft or a car break-in does not usually result in a personal injury to a park-goer, the loss of property could trigger a lawsuit. Indeed, theme parks may be liable for inadequate security, premises liability, loss of property and property damage in the event of a car break-in.

People who suffer an injury while visiting a theme park may be able to seek compensation for damages. A Pennsylvania personal injury attorney can offer guidance.
