Summer is a time of increased sports injuries

While many recreational and school sports teams disband practice and play for part of or all of the summer, the warmer months are still a time of increased sports injuries. People everywhere tend to get out more during the summer to enjoy warm weather, and they participate in a variety of activities such as swimming, running, playing ball, throwing a Frisbee or riding a bike.

The sheer number and variety of sports activities that are common in the summer make it difficult to point to a top sports injury, but some injuries are definitely more common than others. Injuries to ankles, for example, are very common in warmer months and during recreational activities. Some of these injuries are mild and simply require relaxation and icing. Other ankle injuries can be serious and lead to surgery. The same is true of knee injuries, which are also common.

Elbows and arms follow ankles and knees when it comes to common injuries, especially for people who enjoy sports that involve swinging a bat, racket or club. Again, such injuries range from mild to severe.

Leg, shin, shoulder, hip and head injuries are all also possible during summer activities. Following good safety protocols and using the proper equipment for your activity can help you reduce the chance of an injury. Sometimes, though, a sports injury is caused by the neglect or carelessness of someone else.

If you are dealing with a sports injury that occurred because of someone else's action or inaction, then you might have a personal injury case. Filing a lawsuit can help you ensure all damages are covered and that you can move on from your injury.
