Pennsylvania readers may be eating dangerous products

Pennsylvania parents often buy products such as peanut butter in an effort to feed their children healthy foods. Now, some are learning that certain foods may be dangerous products that have been contaminated with potentially serious bacteria. Many peanut products are now the subject of a nationwide recall and are accused of being contaminated with salmonella.

Pennsylvania residents may have come into contact with the potentially dangerous products at stores such as Target, WalMart, Costco and Trader Joe's. These are just a few of the retail outlets that may have carried the dangerous products. In fact, the list of contaminated brands produced by Sunland, Inc is extensive and may be reviewed on the company's website.

The strain of Salmonella that is thought to have contaminated the peanut products is said to induce symptoms within 12 to 72 hours after the products are consumed. If a person becomes ill from the products, they may find that they have diarrhea, vomiting, fever and abdominal cramps. Those with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly, may be at risk for an even more serious reaction.

As is the case with many dangerous products recalls, the peanut products that are the subject of the recall should not be consumed if a person discovers that they are in possession of them. Instead, they should be returned to the location where they were purchased. In addition, if a person in our state believes that they may have consumed some of the contaminated products, they may wish to seek medical attention if they suffer harmful symptoms. In some cases, injured parties may be able to file personal injury lawsuits in order to obtain financial restitution for any necessary medical or other expenses stemming from consumption of the recalled peanut products.
