Defective product recall affects some cars in Pennsylvania

A large automaker of vehicles that may be owned by some readers in Pennsylvania recently took the unusual step of telling drivers to stop driving some of their vehicles. The vehicles in question are a part of a defective product recall that covers several models of cars made by Ford Motor Company. The recall affects certain cars using the Eco Boost system.

According to a recent report, the defective product recall was caused by the cars catching fire when an unidentified fluid began to leak from the vehicle. The under-hood fires have occurred at least 13 times, according to one recent report. Now, Ford must work to find a way to fix the defective vehicles.

The recall affects Escape and Fusion models, among others. Though no injuries have yet been reported from the fires caused by the leak in the cars, there are risks for significant injuries to drivers and others in the vehicles. This, some say, may have led to the direction from Ford for owners in Pennsylvania and elsewhere to discontinue driving their cars and take them to local dealerships as soon as possible.

As is the case with many such defective product recalls, the cars in this case may lead to injury for those who use them. Should this happen, the injured individual may be able to make a claim against the manufacturer for the damages caused by their defective product. In this case, if a person who owns an affected vehicle suffers injury due to the car catching fire, they may wish to seek medical care immediately and begin to consider making a personal injury claim.
