Passenger bus caught up in Pennsylvania truck accident

A dramatic crash happened recently on a Pennsylvania roadway that ended a trip for several tourists. The truck accident resulted from a collision between a passenger bus and a large truck carrying building materials. Reports indicate that several passengers on the bus had to be taken to a local hospital for injuries requiring medical attention in the aftermath of the incident.

Hit-and-run accidents the Lehigh Valley

Three recent articles about hit-and-run accidents appeared in the local Lehigh Valley news, one in the Morning Call and two in the Express Times. One crash involved a vehicle on I-78, a notoriously dangerous highway, the other involved a 13-year-old pedestrian in Bangor and most recently involving a pedestrian in Bethlehem.  It's difficult enough when you're the victim of another driver's negligence in a car accident. That difficulty is compounded when the person responsible for the accident does not stop or flees the scene.

Pennsylvania parents learn of defective products recall

Two products that may be familiar to parents in Pennsylvania are the subjects of recalls. The baby-focused items were recalled due to the fact that they may be defective products that could endanger young children. The most recent recalls include a baby napping seat and denim jeans.

FDA Recognizes Known Dangers of Metal-on-Metal Hip Implants

The FDA said yesterday that metal-on-metal hip implants can cause pain and soft-tissue damage. This was not news to the many victims of the medical device industry's failure to properly test these devices before placing on the market and selling them for their own profit. Unfortunately, this news simply confirms what the victims and those of us who represent the victims already knew. Metal on metal hip implants are dangerous products. According to the Newsday article, The FDA also said that "surgeons should select a metal-on-metal hip implant for their patient only after determining that its benefits outweigh that of an alternative hip system."

Pennsylvania driver in fatal crash may face wrongful death claims

Police in Pennsylvania are working to complete an investigation of a recent crash that happened on a local roadway. The car accident took the lives of two young people and resulted in two others being taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The crash occurred on a weekend evening in Catasauqua and may result in the driver of the vehicle involved being found liable for the wrongful death of the passengers.

Pennsylvania the site of car and truck accidents after storms

Over the past few weeks, Pennsylvania has been the target of several strong winter storms. This has led to multiple car and truck accidents on our roadways. In one that happened over the holiday weekend, a man died in such an accident. Reportedly he had gotten out of his vehicle to check out a disabled car when the crash occurred.

Defective product recall affects toys in Pennsylvania

More than 94,000 marble-sized toys were sold across the country and in Pennsylvania before being the subject of a recent recall. The toys, sold under names such as Water Balz, Growing Skulls and H2O Orbs, are the subject of a defective product recall after injuries have occurred. The injuries include at least one case in which an infant had to have surgery after ingesting the toy.

No Criminal Charges Does NOT Mean Immune from Negligence Claims

A recent Morning Call article (,0,3890198,print.story) reported that the driver of a dump truck that crashed  into another vehicle and the Leithsville Fire Station and killed a man will not face criminal charges. Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli made sure to point out, however, that the decision of his office does not make the trucker and the company immune to possible civil suits.

Standing Up for Victims of Sexual Abuse in Pennsylvania

I hate that the first post I'm writing for our blog here at Cohen & Feeley in 2013 is inspired by another tragic, unspeakable event. However, I take great pride in fighting for victims of harm and I deeply believe that part of my duty is to inform others and help in whatever way I can to prevent future tragedies. In today's paper I read that a former priest with the Allentown Catholic Diocese, Bruno M. Tucci, has been charged in Maryland with sexually assaulting a boy in 1981.
