Pennsylvania driver in fatal crash may face wrongful death claims

Police in Pennsylvania are working to complete an investigation of a recent crash that happened on a local roadway. The car accident took the lives of two young people and resulted in two others being taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The crash occurred on a weekend evening in Catasauqua and may result in the driver of the vehicle involved being found liable for the wrongful death of the passengers.

According to early reports, the car accident began when the vehicle involved was heading west on a Pennsylvania road. As the driver was in an intersection, he or she lost control of the car for an unspecified reason. As a result, the car smashed into a utility pole.

The two deceased victims of the car accident who may have suffered a wrongful death, died at the scene. The surviving victims went to local hospitals where their conditions were sure to be assessed. As police discover exactly why the car accident occurred, they may assess fault to the driver of the car. The investigation could include discussions with the surviving victims of the car accident.

When a car accident such as this one ends with the death of victims, the driver of the car involved sometimes may find that they are liable to the survivors of their victims for wrongful death. Under local personal injury laws, this liability can include lost wages and pain and suffering, among other claims. Though wrongful death claims are not available in all fatal car accident incidents, when the driver of a car is found to have caused a crash through their behavior, they may face such claims.
