Items used by kids in Pennsylvania in defective product recalls

Pennsylvania parents work hard to purchase products for their kids that they believe are safe and effective. These efforts are most often rewarded with toys and other items that are used successfully by our state's kids. However, in some cases the items are found to be a danger to our kids, and they are the subject of a defective product recall.

A new study that may be of interest to our readers in Pennsylvania found that the number of child related products that caused incidents was down over the past year. This may be due to renewed efforts by government agencies to issue defective product recalls on items that pose a risk to children. However, some authorities have noted that manufacturers control much of the information offered to consumers about products.

This control may partially explain why the number of injuries reported from the use of children's products rose by 42 percent last year. In addition, the number of deaths from such items rose by 200 percent. Nevertheless, the number of defective products recalls fell by 20 percent last year.

When a person finds that they have purchased an item that is the subject of a defective product recall, they may first wish to contact the manufacturer or return the item to the store where it was purchased. Of course, the very first thing to do is to seek appropriate medical care if necessary. It may be advantageous to create a detailed record for use in assessing the viability of resorting to personal injury laws to seek reimbursement of monetary damages sustained for injuries caused by a defective product.
