Slip and fall accidents can injure Pennsylvania workers

A Pennsylvania woman is filing a negligence suit against the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for a slip and fall accident that happened while she was at work. Slip and fall accidents can have a traumatic effect on victims. The woman in this case was employed in the kitchen of a Catholic school located in the mission area of the Archdiocese. She is asking for over $50,000 in financial compensation for the slip and fall accident.

The woman claims that the floor in the kitchen was uneven in several places. There was also a drain that had been left when a dishwasher was removed. The drain was over an inch lower than the rest of the floor and had not been covered when the dishwasher was moved. As the woman was walking back and forth in the kitchen while performing her job, she tripped on the lip of the drain, causing injury to her arm and knee. The knee injury required surgery to repair the damage.

The compensation she is requesting is helping to cover all medical expenses as well as lost wages from not being able to work because of her injuries. Her husband is also seeking payment for loss of consortium. Negligence is just one of the several charges being brought against the Archdiocese.

Most people in Pennsylvania or anywhere else expect a certain degree of safety when performing the job they were hired to do. A kitchen can be full of potential hazards; however caution should always be taken to minimize risk of injury. This slip and fall accident could possibly have been prevented had this woman's employers taken the time and appropriate expense to fix the floor of the kitchen, assuming that her allegations prove correct. Victims of slip and fall accidents like this may wish to look into their own legal rights for seeking compensation.
