What injuries are possible after an amusement park accident?

As summer comes to an end, Pennsylvania residents may be making one last trip to the amusement park or be visiting local fairs with mobile rides and attractions. Worst-case scenario is a person falling from a roller coaster or other tall ride and dying, but there are also other types of injuries that can be incurred and may also present grounds for a personal injury lawsuit.

The same factors that make amusement park rides thrilling can also cause injuries. G-force pressure, stress on the neck and other parts of the body, high speeds and sudden movements can all cause a variety of different injuries, ranging from broken bones to traumatic brain injuries. Anybody who has been on a roller coaster that loops has experienced the intense pressure that can be put on the neck, head and brain. In some cases, this pressure can result in internal bleeding in the brain, a brain aneurysm or a stroke.

Being struck with an airborne object, possibly from an equipment malfunction, and injuries from improperly fastened safety devices are also possible. At waterparks, drowning is also a concern if there are not enough lifeguards on the premises or if the equipment is not properly maintained. Injuries are not solely limited to the physical, either. In some cases, victims may be able to sue after suffering emotional and mental consequences as a result of an amusement park accident that occurred through the fault or negligence of the staff.

While the majority of visitors to amusement parks and other attractions enjoy themselves and have a safe experience, those who do get injured may have legal options.
