Man gets $2.1 million after snow tubing accident

Snow tubing is supposed to be one of those fun winter events that helps to create excellent memories -- the wind rushing in your face, the thrill of the ride, the steam from the hot chocolate in the lodge after you get done. However, things don't always go this well, and everything isn't always picture-perfect.

One man who went to Bear Creek Mountain Resort knows this all too well. He went down a run that workers said was "smoking fast," and he couldn't stop at the bottom of the hill. The out-of-control tube careened on and slammed into a net, flipping the man so that he flew into the air and came down on his neck.

If that wasn't bad enough, another tube rider was going out of control right behind him. He didn't have any time to move, and the second rider also flew into the net, striking the first man and landing on him.

Now, the injured man is going to be $2.1 million richer, as a jury determined that he was deserving of that compensation due to his injuries, lost wages, loss of consortium compensation for his wife and other damages. The man, who is 46 years old, was out of work for half a year and had to undergo, among other things, spinal fusion. He says he can no longer be active due to this procedure.

The couple blamed the resort for the accident, saying that they had not properly been warned about the ice buildup on the run that made it faster than usual.

If you've been injured while doing recreational activities in Pennsylvania, make sure you know if you deserve compensation.
