Boating accident leaves 2 hospitalized

Two individuals were sent to the hospital following a serious boating accident in the neighboring state of New York. The incident happened last Friday evening.

A 45-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman suffered injuries in the accident. The man was steering the boat, but he failed to notice an affixed object, which resulted in him steering the boat directly into a metal light post and a wooden structure in the lake. The man suffered head and facial injuries that required hospital care and the woman's injuries required hospital care as well. Fortunately, neither of victims' injuries were fatal and they were released from the hospital later that day.

The boat was not so lucky. The 2005 Larson, which the man had been operating, suffered heavy damage and was totaled as a result of the collision.

This accident is not unlike many boating accidents that happen on a weekly basis in Pennsylvania. Although, in many cases, the people involved in these accidents do not suffer serious injury, sometimes, the injuries are particularly severe. Whenever a boating accident happens, victims may want to investigate exactly why it might have occurred for the purpose of determining who and/or what parties might be liable for the incident.

Things to look for in a boating accident include dangerous defects relating to a boat's manufacture, whether or not the boat driver or the driver of another boat was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash, the speed of the boat at the time of the crash and a wide variety of other factors.
