What is a manufacturing defect?

Pretty much every Pennsylvania resident has had to purchase some sort of consumer product at one time or another. When they purchase products, people expect them to work as they've been advertised. People want to know that they spend their money on products that are going to be useful to their lives.

While a product's design is important, it won't help much if the product is too dangerous to use. The consumer product needs to be useful and it has to be safe. Pennsylvania residents rely on manufacturers to make products that are safe for consumer use.

Unfortunately, many manufactures fail to live up to the standard. They create products that cause injuries and fatalities to Pennsylvania residents. Often, these injuries are caused by manufacturing defects.

A manufacturing defect is a defect that the manufacturer did not want to happen. This is a defect that occurs as a result of the manufacturing process. This defect was not in the design of the product, but it occurred at some point during the manufacturing process, for one reason or another.

Manufacturing defects are often present in poorly manufactured products. When poorly manufactured products leave the manufacturer's possession, they can cause serious injuries. The manufacturer is then responsible for any damages that occur.

While manufacturing defects are relatively rare, manufacturers are still held strictly liable for damages caused by poorly manufactured products. People who have been injured as a result of a manufacturing defect need to understand their legal rights. An attorney can help people who need specific legal advice after being injured by a consumer product. Product liability laws protect consumers in these situations.
