4.7 million people suffer dog bites each year

Dog Bite and Animal Attack Attorneys

There are approximately 4.7 million people who suffer dog bites each year in the United States. Almost half of these incidents involve a dog in the victim’s family or owned by a neighbor.  Additionally, many of the victims of dog bites are children. Dogs can also cause injury by attacking or threatening to attack, without actually biting the victim (such as by knocking the victim to the ground, or attacking the victim’s dog while the victim is present).

If you or a family member has been bitten or attacked by a dog, causing injury, it is important to see a doctor (particularly if a bite and/or the skin is broken). Dog bites cause concern for rabies or tetanus infection. This is especially the case if the dog is unfamiliar. Dog bites are particularly prone to infection and should be watched carefully.

In Pennsylvania, if a dog causes injury by biting or attacking, its owner is liable for all the victim’s medical expenses, whether or not the owner was negligent. The victim may be entitled to additional damages if the owner was negligent or violated the Dog Law.

Right to Recovery

The victim of a dog bite or dog attack has the right to pursue recovery of damages, including:

  • Medical expenses
  • Lost wages
  • Scarring
  • Permanent disfigurement
  • Mental anguish
  • Pain and suffering
  • Future medical care including scar revision surgery

What Our Clients Have To Say

I had never had to do something like this before and I heard a lot of bad stories about cases dragging on. Mr. Altemose and Mrs. Zancofsky handled every part of my case with urgency and in a timely manner. They made the whole process easy to follow and kept me continually updated. After everything was finished, I know I certainly made the right choice.

Mike McKarski handled my case, and it was not easy. I am not always easy to deal with. But Mike was very sure of himself and the case that he built. I had complete trust and confidence in him. He informed me every step of the process. He was there for me whenever I needed to speak to him. No matter the time of day or issue he was always responsive. Mike actually cares about the client above everything else. I will always be grateful for the work and effort put in and for the kindness and caring. Truly thankful.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the level of care provided to me by Mr. Altemose and Mrs. Zancofsky. My case was long and daunting but Mr. Altemose was incredibly thorough and extremely knowledgeable in personal injury law. Mrs. Zancofsky kept me updated and walked me through all the steps necessary for my case. I would highly recommend Mr. Altemose and his team to anyone in need of a personal injury lawyer.

Will Rambo and his paralegal, Jenna Landis, were absolutely wonderful to work with following a car accident. They always kept me up-to-date with the case, and kindly answered my questions. I’m so grateful for all that they’ve done, and I cannot recommend them enough! Hopefully I won’t be needing their services in the future, but if I do I know I’ll be choosing them to represent me again.
