Cohen & Feeley partners Mark Altemose and Kelly Rambo obtained a $4.36 million verdict in Northampton County for a 55 year old man and church volunteer who suffered a left above-the-knee amputation as a result of injuries he sustained in a construction accident at his church, St. Johns UCC in Nazareth, when 20 sheets of drywall stacked on edge fell on him as he attempted to stand up the drywall find an outlet in a hallway that the sheets were blocking. We argued that the Defendants, the construction manager and drywall subcontractor, were negligent by stacking materials in the hallway and in front of the outlet in violation of OSHA regulations and by stacking the drywall on edge in violation of a safety standard incorporated into the contract specifications. Defendants argued that they complied with OSHA and the contract and that the accident was caused by our client’s negligence only. After a 10 day jury trial, the jury awarded our client and his wife $4.36 million, assessing only 10% of the negligence to our client. The parties later settled the case for the sum of $4.4 million.

        Steven Margolis obtained  $3,973,000.00 verdict in a medical malpractice trial.  The basis of the case was that the defendant doctor failed to biopsy a breast lump which led to an 11 month delay in the diagnosis of cancer.  As a result our client is presently terminal with only a 20% chance that she will survive 3 years.  Prior to trial the defendant made no offer to settle the case.
